The HPB, High Pressure Booster pump is used to boost the pressure of color being metered into the barrel of the processing machine. The HPB can take the metered input and boost it to approximately 1400 PSI for delivery into the barrel of the extruder, injection molding unit, or blow molding unit.

The volume of color is dependent on a separate metering device, and is fed into the input side of the HPB booster pump. The HPB introduces color into the process at high PSI. The HPB is activated by a 120 VAC signal from the metering device and remains inactive when a signal is not present.
